Timut Pepper, also known as Timur Berry, is native to Nepal.
Its name is misleading. Indeed, it is not a real pepper, as it belongs to the citrus family!
This explains its strong taste of grapefruit, its fresh and tangy notes, and its unique smell!
It is a cousin of Sichuan pepper from China, and Sansho pepper from Japan, all three being small Asian citrus.
Timur pepper grows in the Nepalese mountains, on small shrubs, from which the fruit is harvested. Its seeds are then removed to keep only the husk: that's where the aroma is!
Timut pepper works perfectly with beef, duck, pork meat, or white fish.
But it is also a must in sweet cooking! It will heighten the taste of chocolate or red fruits and will marry perfectly with other citrus fruits.
How to use Timut Pepper?
Nothing could be easier! You just have to crush it with a mill, a knife or a mortar, just before using it. You then incorporate it in your preparation, either during cooking or when you set up the plate.
Our Timut pepper comes in a 30 / 60 g jar, or in a 250 g refill bag. Keep it in a dry and cool place, away from light. Timut pepper does not expire, but we recommend using it within 24 months to keep all the intensity of its flavors.
