Cocoa is native from Mexico. Throughout the centuries, it has conquered the world. Once considered as an extremely noble product, it was used in the sacred rituals by Olmec, Mayan and Aztec peoples. Today, it is mainly consumed in a form we all know: chocolate. However, in the Mayan culture, cocoa was consumed on its own, or mixed with other spices such as cinnamon and chili.
It is this raw, untouched cocoa that we want you to discover with these whole roasted organic cocoa beans from Peru. The roasted cocoa bean has a raw, intense, bitter taste, with deep notes of red fruits.
How to use cocoa beans?
First of all, as they are! When you bite into them, these small beans will explode with flavor and crunchiness. Their aromatic power makes them an excellent appetite suppressant, ideal as a healthy and tasty snack. They are also rich in vitamins and micronutrients, and have strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
What about pastries?
Crushed or grated, our organic cocoa beans offer a superb texture to your pastry creations. Imagine a few nibs of raw cocoa sprinkled on a chocolate dessert: brownie, macarons, cookies... the possibilities are infinite.
You can also add them directly to your creations by incorporating the crushed cocoa into a cream, a sauce, a ganache, a cake batter, or even a hot chocolate!
Our cocoa beans come in a 50 / 100 g jar, or in a 250 g refill bag. Keep them in a dry and cool place, away from light. Cocoa does not expire, but we recommend using it within 24 months to keep all the intensity of its flavors.
