THE GREEN JALAPEÑO PEPPER
The jalapeño pepper gets its name from the Mexican town of Xalapa, sometimes spelled Jalapa, in the Veracruz region, in Eastern Mexico. This pepper is known for its spicy, fruity, fresh, slightly tangy flavor.
With a medium heat level of 3,000 to 6,000 on the Scoville scale, it is spicy but remains accessible to a wide audience, even those not accustomed to heat.
Often used in Tex-Mex cuisine, these dried pepper flakes can be incorporated as-is into your preparations.
IN WHICH RECIPES SHOULD YOU USE JALAPEÑO PEPPERS?
If you want to spice up your dip sauces during an appetizer, this is the one for you. Add a few jalapeño pepper flakes to your guacamole or hummus, and you're good to go.
For main dishes, add a pinch of jalapeño pepper to your marinade to enhance your meats and vegetables, or add directly into your saucy dishes (bolognese, chili, basquaise...)
Feeling adventurous?
Try the chocolate-jalapeño combo. Reinvent your chocolate mousses, brownies, or cookies with a pinch of jalapeño pepper flakes for a good dose of kick, for a snack or dessert.
